BULLY TRAINING

  • Bullying is a big issue in DSH just as it is in the real world;

  • Staff at all levels of DSH on a statewide basis do not receive initial or ongoing comprehensive bully and victimization training;

  • Training is not offered to patients who are victims of being bullied in terms of strategies of how to avoid being bullied, or how to react when being bullied;

  • DSH has no procedures or protocols in terms of how to handle situations where a single patient is targeted for bullying by a group of patients, what the response should be, and what support should be put in place without making that patient feel he’s being further victimized by the system.
