OFFICE OF PATIENT RIGHTS

  • A survey of many patients at 3 DSH facilities has found that the Office of Patients Rights has failed them completely;

  • The Office of Patients Rights provides no meaningful investigations of patients abuse complaints, and does not have the staff resources to do so;

  • DSH has absolutely no grievance system to handle patient complaints similar to CDCR. Almost every patient feels completely helpless and abandoned with nowhere to turn with their complaints;

  • The SOC-341 abuse complaint process is a sham because it is adjudicated by the Executive management of each DSH facility which is the entity that is ultimately responsible for the abuse of each patient (the complaining party). It is absurd that SOC-341 complaints are adjudicated by the very individuals the patient is accusing of abusing him.
